Last Tuesday, the Franklin County High School choirs had the honor of performing at Governor Andy Beshear’s Prayer Breakfast. The invitation, originally extended in 2020, had to be declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the choir was thrilled to finally participate this year.
The event, held at the Exum Center at Kentucky State University in Frankfort, began at 7:30 AM with doors opening at 7 AM. The theme for this year’s breakfast was “Forward Together in Faith, Empathy and Compassion. The choir performed two beautiful pieces: Gawthrop’s "Sing Me to Heaven" and Ramsey’s arrangement of "Crowded Table." Despite the early start time and the absence of their juniors due to ACT testing, the choir delivered a memorable performance.
Governor Beshear emphasized the importance of moving forward together with compassion and equity. The dedication and enthusiasm of these high school students were evident, showcasing their readiness and commitment to excellence. Their participation in such a prestigious event highlights the exceptional talent and hard work of the Franklin County High School choirs.
We are proud of our Flyers and Choir Director, Raye Hurley.
